This class is for people who have not danced flamenco before or who are returning to dance after a period of time. It focuses on essential and important dance techniques. It also covers necessary subjects to dance flamenco such as the music structure, singing, rhythms, the history of flamenco and its concepts. No flamenco shoes necessary. Please bring shoes with clean sole. Flamenco is from Southern Spain and is a very unique art and cultural form that contains music and dance. I am hoping to help the participants understand and love the uniqueness and complexity of the dance.

Recommended for dancers who have danced flamenco regularly for more than two years. The class consists of dance technique and repertoire in addition to compás and theory of flamenco. For the technique part, emphasis is placed on each different dance component to strengthen basic techniques that allow dancers to dance in natural and kinetically reasonable ways. The compás and theory part focuses on familiarizing dancers with compás (rhythm), palmas (hand clapping), and also learning different palos (songs) and styles of cantes (singing).
