ONLINE CLASSES in response to COVID-19

  • Starting March 22, I am not teaching classes in person due to COVID-19.  Instead, I am teaching online.  This will last until the end of April.  I will reassess the situation and decide what to do in May.

  • I will continue to teach every Sunday.  Instead of teaching at Tapestry Folkdance Center, I will provide video links to students who registered for the class in order for them to take class home.

  • I will teach only Advanced Beginners as a pilot program on March 22.  The other classes will start on March 29.

  • Class descriptions below

  • I am available for private sessions via Zoom.  Contact me.

How to take my classes online:

1.  Register by paying the class fee online before the class (by 11:45 AM) on Sunday (See Payment method below).

2.  I will send the link of the videos to those who registered at 12 PM

3.  You will have the links for the whole week to review.  Next Sunday, we will repeat 1 and 2.  I will take down the old videos.

Payment method:

I accept payments via Venmo (@Sachiko-Nishiuchi) or Zelle

Tips for online classes:

  • A wireless earphone may work better to hear my words and steps clearly.

  • The video will be on Youtube.  It has a function to slow down the speed.  You can play it slower when needed.

  • Repetitions makes perfection.  Please rewind and practice one part and another repeatedly.

Recommended for dancers who have danced flamenco regularly for more than two years.  The class consists of dance technique and repertoire in addition to compás and theory of flamenco.  For the technique part, emphasis is placed on each different dance component to strengthen basic techniques that allow dancers to dance in natural and kinetically reasonable ways.  The compás and theory part focuses on familiarizing dancers with compás (rhythm), palmas (hand clapping), and also learning different palos (songs) and styles of cantes (singing).
